I usually dont post everytime I get a forward but this seemed interesting so here goes...

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112 .
If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked.

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:
If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

Imagine your cell battery is very low , you need to make a ver important call and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.
(Nokia should advertise this more...)

The Life equation

Life is an equation. How you may ask. Let me explain. Its pretty simple. Everybody has heard of "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction" . If you haven't, well its Newton's 3rd law... not something I cooked up!

So if life is made of our actions and their results, it would be fair to say:

Our actions and decisions in life = The reaction or the result of those actions which we face in life

Now if you take out things like useless and meaningless TV shows, the crappy movies (I agree some are worth watching), overeating, sleeping in late etc., you have a big hole on the actions/decision side of the equation. Now you see how much positive result you can get by eliminating these things from your life?

Later.

Wish to fly...?

All of us when we were kids ( or are) have one or two (or million) wishes which can only be thought of by a kid's mind. Didn't you ever wish to fly? Or to be king of the world? Or a similar impossible wish?

Why is it that you tell someone that your wish is to fly someday, they call you crazy and laugh at you? Are you saying that all the small kids are crazy or you were too when you were young? Is it that when you grow up you loose the right to dream the impossible? Funny huh?

I am sure all the science fiction writers are crazy too this way, so would have been Stephen Hawking if he hadn't been good in mathematics and had proved he was right. As I see it, landlines dont seem to have any obvious advantage over cellphones. I suppose the extra cost could be accounted for that little feature in a cellphone.

The only reason I feel people keep landlines is to show that they are kind of like... "settled" and they wont be running away anywhere, anytime soon. No wonder many forms ask for your "Home Phone" or something equivalent. Without it, they will not have thought of and invented/discovered what they did. Isaac Newton's work is a great example of the importance of power of observation. You think he was the first human to see an apple or anything for that matter, fall? But he was the only one to think that something was curious about it and went on to "discover" the universal gravitation.

There are a lot of people still doing research in various fields. But none of them as popular as maybe Newton, Einstein (the guy with the prominent hair) . They invented and discovered a load of things in their lifetimes.

About the common sense part, heard of the theory of relativity? Einstein thought of it. It is said that the theory cannot be understood by everybody. I am not talking about the compex mathematical statements, I am talking about the statement of the theory, the definition if you like.

Its totally common sense. So, admit it, some guys have a higher IQ/ common sense than others.

An educational blog!

Hey, what do you know, my blog has been characterized as an "Educational Blog" by the Bestest Blog of All Time

Nice! Let me enlighten you.

First of all it would be hell for all the people related to geography. See, the would have to learn all the new data about the height of the mountains, the depth of the sea etc. Now that would be bad.

Also, every port in the world would be probably underwater. There goes all the awsome yachts and speedboats and the beaches... Pretty damn wet for all the people living near the coastal area also.

Like thats not enough, "Waterworld" would not be considered a science fiction movie but a documentary.

All this would involve a lot of problems. I mean seriously, I thought the backward classes were coming up, you know doing well. And they go and increase the reservations. Its like they are almost saying "Hey, you guys are doing so bad that we increased the reservations for you."

You know what they are also projecting to the world? That half the country's population is backward! Its either that or somebody messed up their calculations BIG TIME.

Consider this, 25 out of 100 people are considered in the category of backward. Now, ideally you go ahead and make the reservation 25%. Ok, can be explained to a person by mathematics. But no, you go ahead and make it 50%. That tells me, every person considered backward can apply and get admission in 2 universities at the same time. Defies logic, doesnt it... ok, at least defies my mathematical logic.

That also poses a problem, what do the 25 general category people do??? Dont you think its time they reserve seats for general also???

A nuclear tragedy.

Have to face it. Someday, somebody's patience will run out and some gung-ho dude might order a nuclear strike on somebody else. Everybody wants the best weapons, "just in case" they say.

Not everybody has a strong will to save nuking the other guy if he/she kills some people. The worst part, every few years, the trigger keeps changing hands. One guy starts, everybody will follow... you know, "just in case".

Well, "just in case", you hear about such a tragedy, know that it was some trigger happy dude who just couldnt hold it.

Solution? You dont see much gory scences or killings (compared to the other was movies) but the story puts things for your consideration. Like its said in the movie, saving the lives of 500 prisoners-of-war is of no strategic importance but no one in really cares or thinks about that. War is not cool.

I agree wars in movies are fun to watch, which is the problem. I feel they shouldnt be.

You thought I will give you the story of the movie? Nah, go here and search: www.imdb.com

Although I am always happy to guide you to the site that will.

Later.

Massively Multiplayer Online RPGs

Dont ask me what this means, go here and check it out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MMORPG

Oh and, you can find information about almost everything on this site. It is a good site to remember or bookmark.

So, MMORPGs come in many forms. There are browser-based, text and graphics both. Although the graphics one which run on browsers usually suck. There are many interesting ones out there.

Some of them require you to download their client. These have better graphics but those with slow connections usually dont go for these becasue of the size of the downloads.

See, I ended up telling almost everything about it.I play some of them.

Of course, if you really wanna go big, play World of Warcraft, Oblivion. Those are what are called top-notch in graphics and gameplay both.

Later.

Windows Firewall

If you are using Windows XP, you will find Windows Firewall in your control panel or your system bar (Next to the date at the bottom right corner). Its a good tool to limit access to the internet for the programs you have installed and those that are there but you dont know about!

Just like any other firewall, it asks for your permission whenever a new program tries to access the net. So you know when something is accessing the net when its not suppose to.

Some say it slows down the net speed. Even if that is right, I dont think it makes any considerable difference to the speed to be concerned about. I have never experienced a faster connection when it was off.

You just gotta make sure it stays on. Otherwise, you might think it is on and surf the net freely when its actually off. THAT is one big problem. If you know its off, then you might be more careful.
